Another well-known town: Cadiz.
Founded 3,000 years ago, it is allegedly one of the oldest towns in Europe. At siesta time, it's nice to hang out on its "ramblas," looking for "La bella de Cádiz."* * "La Belle de Cadix" is a well-know song in France, made popular in the 50's by Luis Mariano (who was kind of a Frank Sinatra in France and Spain); it means "The Beautiful Girl from Cádiz." |
