Here is a satellite image showing the work in progress as in 2004.
(image which, for once, is not mine... unfortunately!)

Notice that most of the structure is almost finished...
that is 100 million tons of sand which were already poured into the sea in less than 2 years!
Since February 2004, the construction of the first buildings started,
3000 builders work there, day and night.
Delivery of the first villas is planned for 2006.

But, since we are facing a completely eccentric project,
which seems to have no other limits than the imagination
of Dubai's Emir, why not overbid?...
